Catalonia is located in the north-east of Spain on the coast of the Mediterranean sea and has a 580 kilometer coastline comprising the Costa Brava, Costa del Maresme, Costa del Garraf and Costa Dorada. The region is bordered in the south of the Comunidad Valenciana in the west of Aragon and in the north to France and Andorra.
It has three official languages: Catalan, Spanish and Aranese language
spoken in the Val d'Aran, a region in the Catalan Pyrenees. It is one of the three wealthiest regions of Spain . Catalonia has developed a strong identity and the use of the Catalan language by the state government is highly promoted.
On April 23 Catalonia is celebrating the feast of the patron saint Jordi.
According to tradition, women receive a rose on that day and the men receive a book.
In Barcelona, but also in smaller villages on this day there are flower and book stands everywere.
Catalonia offers beautiful nature with little typical Catalan villages, but also old cities with beautiful architecture and lots of attractions
